REC № 0004 · The Point · Mission Beach

The Point, South Mission Beach

At Headland, South Mission Beach

The crown jewel of the headland. Deserving of its own name, film, page and memorandum.

01The Idea

Same Headland. Different Buyer.

Headland sells twelve homesites to people building a home by the sea. Lot 13 sits at the end of the same road, and its buyer is shopping for something else entirely.

Inside the estate's story it was always going to read as the thirteenth lot. So we gave it its own name, its own mark and the estate's green, a shade deeper.

02From The Air

Nobody Buys The Point From The Road.

From the ground it's a paddock with a view.
From the air it's a headland with a bay either side.

The headland from high over the sea: a wooded point with a bay either side and a long beach running away to the range.
Fig. 1The whole headland, the silt line curling round the tip.
Looking inland from off the tip: the neck of the headland between two bays, cleared ground along its top and the range behind.
Fig. 2From off the tip, a bay either side and the range behind.
The wooded tip of the headland from above, a boat's wake heading out to sea and an island offshore.

Above the cleared ground on the crest, the bay beside it at low tide in ribbons of sand, the coast running north.

Straight down on the shed and its pad: a yellow helicopter parked with its blades tied, two cars beside it and the grass mown in stripes.
